Christmas cards 2012

Hi everyone,
Well, Christmas is over and, as we're just about to go into a new year and take all the decorations down, I thought I'd take the opportunity to show you the seasonal handmade cards I received.
I've scanned them all but those with bulkier embellishments or with a pale/all white background haven't shown up so well.
Some are made with SU products, some from existing stash, others are a mix of the two. All different, all gratefully received!
So here we go:

Lesley Gillett - using Merry Minis

Wanda - using our ornament punch

Sylvia

Marilyn

Karen

Pat

Margaret

Fiona - decorative label punch

Lesley Boyle - scallop trim border modern label & word window punches

Dee

Jane - stamp from Christmas Wishes

Cathryn - my no.1 DTL - ornament punch

Natalie - my upline - Merry Minis & Snow Festival Tags

Finally, you've seen it before but I think it deserves another appearance:

Sherrill - stamp from Scentsational Season
It's amazing that everyone comes up with something different to celebrate the season, I hope you've enjoyed looking at the cards.
Enjoy this evening. I can't wait to share some samples with you over the next three weeks as we approach Sale-a-bration. Don't know what Sale-a-bration is?? Then you need to check in again soon and find out what all the fuss is about - look forward to your company!

Festive Milk Carton

I wanted to do something different with the flocked window sheet that came as part of the Candlelight Christmas Speciality DSP. I have a small gift for someone, round, not easy to package, and so the Bigz Milk Carton die sprang to mind. With it's steel rule die this die cut through the acetate as clean as a whistle. Fold and stick, two holes in the top and the addition of a piece of very vanilla ribbon, all done!

Festive Milk Carton

I like the fact that it's transparent and you can see right through the carton. Just need to wrap a piece of tissue around the gift and it's ready to give.
Perfect for a happy holiday gift.

30th Anniversary

This Tuesday my friend Bernie and her husband will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. I wanted to use our luxurious flocked acetate and the Memorable Moments stamp set on their card and this is what I came up with.:

Originally I'd die cut, mounted and paper pierced '30th' to go on the front but my inky fingers left me having to either re-do the piece or have a re-think. Despite the flock being in real red, I managed to use it along with raspberry ripple, white, and a little grey to tone it down. The original piece went inside, along with some pearls. Few more pearls outside, it being her pearl anniversary, and into tomorrow's post. Hoping she like this as I didn't want the card to be too frothy.
I wish them both many more happy years together!

Team Training Swaps - December 2012

Well, it's that time again. Thanks to help from Lesley I was just about able to get my swaps made in time for training, having been on holiday until last Thursday. At our last training session I won 2 packs from our new Flawless Fabric range. I loved the colours but, not being much of a seamstress, couldn't think what I could use it for. A quick look on the internet and I came up with these: Microwave Heat Pads.
So easy to make, but then came problem number 2 - I don't have a sewing machine. This is where Lesley comes in. She bravely offered to sew all the pouches, leaving me to mix the rice, fill the pouches and hand stitch to finish them. After that, they were bagged and labelled. You can see the results below.

21 microwave Heat Pads, ready to go

The fabric is cut  to 45.7cm  x 68.6cm , each piece a very generous 'fat quarter'. Three different designs to each pack, all colour and design co-ordinated to the rest of our range. The pack shown below is Floral District (item 126893 £8.95).

Floral District Flawless Fabric

Here are the designs in the second pack I used - Summer Smooches (item 125411 £8.95).

Summer Smooches Flawless Fabric
These are just 2 packs from a choice of 8 for you to choose from. Prefer something bolder? Then our Essential Designer Fabric could be for you, a mixture of spots, trellis, chevron and stipes in strong colours.
My little heatpads seemed to go down very well. What a great stocking filler!

Another birthday card

What is it with birthdays??? They seem like buses at the moment. Tomorrow is Karen's birthday, thought it was today which is why I appear so organised. Had an idea in my head which ended up looking like this:

Karen's card

Okay, so it's not what I planned at all. At least I know she'll like the colours. I used 2 stamps from the Clockworks stamp set. the large one was stamped onto a white background in lucky limeade, wiseria wonder, old olice and perfect plum. The smaller stamp in rich razzleberry. Over that is a white piece of card die cut with one of the Apothecary Accent dies. On top of all this is vellum stamped with 2 stamps from (so glad this set has appeared in the main catalogue after disappearing at the end on the summer mini!), The words have been embossed with and the vellum attached with lucky limeade designer brads. the base card is wisteria wonder which has 2 lines scored above and below the stamped area, so easy with the simply scored board. The vellum softems the bright colours a little.

For this card I used:
Clockworks stamp set
wood mount item no.127290 £21.95
clear mount item no. 127292 £17.95

Clockworks Clear-Mount Stamp Set

Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies
item no.127003 £20.95

Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies

In Colour 2011 Designer Brads
item no. 122940 £7.25

Printed 2011 In Color Designer Brads - by Stampin' Up!

Simply Scored Scoring Tool
item no.122334 £25.95

Simply Scored - by Stampin' Up!

Other supplies:
Cardstock in Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White. Vellum and ink.

Despite being organised, I then lost the card so Karen is the proud owner of an empty envelope! It's now turned up and in the post.
Better late than never???

A Christmas Fair Winner

Sands ran a raffle at their Christmas fair last week to which all stallholders donated a prize - I've yet to be contacted by the winner of the stamping class that I donated. I did, however, run a little draw of my own for those visitors who took part in our 'Make & Take'. The first name out of the hat was Kati. i managed to contact her this evening, I'm delighted that she seemed surprised and pleased to have won. We'll be getting together after the holiday season and I look forward to sharing our craft with her.
Over the next few days I'll be contacting the entrants of our draw to update them with all things Stampin' Up!

Calm before the storm

Here are some photos taken at Thursday's Christmas Fair as everyone was prepping their stand. None of ours - felt a bit conceited at the time and now kicking myself for not being able to post any.

This is the 'Make and Take' CASE'd from a card made by Meg Loven which can be seen on her blog Lovenstamps. Her card is in pretty shades of navy, pink and wisteria. Click on the link to see her original and other work: http://lovenstamps.com/blog/page/3/  My card is in bolder shades of lucky limeade, cherry cobbler and new midnight muse.

Looks as if I've used stripey ribbon but that's just the way the light catches on the cherry cobbler seam binding in the photo
This last photo shows a young lady by the name of Sophie who did her own version of our 'Make and Take'. And a super card it is too!

Thank you!

Thanks to all of you who came along to support the Christmas Fair at Sands yesterday evening. Cathryn and Pat assisted and worked hard to make a visit to our stand an enjoyable one. Thank you to both of you, your help was vital in the smooth running of our Make and Take which was quite busy. It was lovely to meet new people as well as our friends..
I still haven't heard who won the free stamping class in the raffle but will shortly list our draw prize winner.  So pop back back to check it out.

Christmas Fair Preparation

Remember this?

Christmas Fair - Sands at Bleak House

This will be my first time at the fair, also as a demonstrator and I'm not at all sure what I should be planning/doing in preparation. I'm aiming to provide a simple free Make & Take and have already started cutting up the card. But what else??? I don't know if there will be room for display boards (which I have ready) but still feel I should I need to make stuff, not for sale but to show that Stampin' Up! isn't just cards or for card makers. So, I've made a few bits and here is one I have to show you....

My Snow Flurry Box
...a 6inch square box in baja breeze and very vanilla with just a touch of bling in the form of our latest champagne glimmer card.
This, slightly fuzzy shot, is a close up of the top. The 'bellyband' has been trimmed using a scallop edge punch, layered with baja breeze card and very vanilla seam binding. This is all topped with snowflakes in very vanilla cardstock and champagne glimmer paper (make no mistake, this is no flimsy paper, more  the thickness of card) using our latest Snow Flurry Bigz Die. At the centre is a 'pearl' accent.

Close up of the top of my Snow Flurry Box

The box was quick and simple to make using our fab Simply Scored Scoring Tool - item no.122334 £25.95, Metric and diagonal scoring plates are also available to fit the tool.
Both the Champagne Glimmer Paper - item no. 127885 £4.50 for two 12"x12" sheets - and the Snow Flurry Bigz die - item no. 127813 £18.95, are available to order from our Autumn/Winter 2012 until the end of January.

You, too, could be giving your gifts in personalised, handmade boxes this Christmas. If you're interested then contact me on 07725 217695 or email lesleylendon@gmail.com.

Happy Birthday Pat

Okay, so I make cards. But when it comes to friends and family you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be making their card at best the night before, but more often than not, on the day of the event. What is it with me??? It's nothing to do with not planning, I plan and write lists, then I have lists of lists. Then lists of lists of lists.............you get the picture.
Here's what I made this morning for Pat:

I know she loves this new 'Postage Due' stamp set so thought I'd stamp using re-inkers from our Regals range. It's a while since I used the re-inker technique and I'm pleased with the result. This produces lovely, vibrant colour. Why not try our re-inkers for yourself? They're available individually for £2.75 each in all the colours in our range. A lovely inky little treat to play with.
For those of you not acquainted with this simple, effective technique then here's a little heads up - in January I'll be running a class to show you how.

Thursday, 25 October 2012

Current Classes

It's drab and miserable outside but I've got some bright, colourful cards to cheer your day. Below you'll see  some photos of the current classes available - do excuse the background!. At all the classes you'll make 8 cards, 2 each of 4 designs. Please note: some of these cards have been CASE'd  but I don't have a clue where I saw them, so they're not all my original design.

The first is from the lovely Jenny Moors. Making use of one of our latest embossing folders - holiday frame - and the fabulous snow flurry die, along with champagne glimmer paper. All featured in the Autumn/Winter 2012 Catalogue. Simple, yes. But I think that you'll agree -they're classy.

Jenny Moors class

This next photo (not one of my best, try to ignore the cars) showcases our Snowflake Soiree stamp set in a departure from the traditional red/green combination. Here we have shades of very vanilla and soft suede. We will also use the brand new Illuminate stamp pad and yes, just a touch of that glimmer paper again. Can you guess that I like it????

Snowflake Soiree

In this third photo I've used one of my favourite Christmas stamps this year - Heart of Christmas, again from the Autumn Winter Catalogue. Teamed with naturals ivory and cherry cobbler this set makes good use of a single stamp.

'Heart of Christmas'

Finally, for those of you trying to hang onto the remnants of autumn and not think of the impending season, here is a class based on the super 'Wonderfall' stamps and matching die. I'm afraid to say that this set was on my list of 'must-haves' as soon as I saw them.

'Wonderfall'
If you're interested in doing any of these classes then contact me as soon as possible by email: lesleylendon@gmail.com or by phone 07725 217695. I have a few dates available but spaces are limited on a first come/first served basis.
