Swaps galore!

The day has been miserable, weather wise, but I've just had a 'sunny' day in Reading. We learnt some stuff, played and had a good laugh, who cares if it was pouring outside? I was having crafty fun with crafty friends. I got back from regional training in one piece and have some fab swaps to show you over the next few days. Some are from the current catalogue and some from the upcoming Summer Mini. In fact I received more than 20 swaps all using at least one item from the new catalogue, let alone all the swaps featuring items from the Idea Book.  There are just so many talented people out there. I look forward to sharing with you over the next few days.

Finally! (including a sneak peek)

Finally I've completed everything for tomorrow.  The 6 x 6 scrap page is made  using a fab new stamp set aimed at the men in our life. That's your sneak peek for today. I'm afraid that I had to go for inky - a nice break from the frilly and feminine.

View from Bora Bora
I thought "Why not go over the top with the badge"? So unlike me, LOL! So here it is, shown as yet another of my fuzzy photo's (commonly known as fuzzifotos). I thought it was in keeping with the whole patriotic theme with a touch of my blog header and a hint of bling.

So now I'm all set for tomorrow - once I've found a summery photo to take with me.

Regional Training Swaps

I'm supposed to be preparing sneak peeks from the new Summer Mini Catalogue but have been busy making swaps for our regional training which is this Saturday. When I first enquired there were about 60 attendees. "Ok", I thought, 60 cards, no problem. Didn't rush to make them, then last week I realised that the numbers had increased to 130, that's right 130! My reaction to this on Monday was to turn my kitchen table into a sweatshop/conveyor belt. Thank goodness my upline put me straight - " Do you what you can manage."  Did I really want to come home with 130 swapped cards?? Well, she didn't quite say that, but where exactly was I going to put 130 swaps when I returned home???
Today they are finished -hooray! In the end I made 80. They were based on the card that I sent to Sherrill Graff last month:

Here are the finished swaps - meet 'Jack'

'JACK' (stamped)
                                                      ..............and 'Jill'

'JILL' (stamped)

Okay, so other people's might be better, but mine are topical (think the Queen's Jubilee and London Olympics). You can't tell from my usual fuzzy photo's but the centre is raised, has two small pearl embellishments and says 'Queen for the day'. Today's sneak peek - and I don't think you'll get this even if you've 20/20 vision - is a small stamp of a peony flower which I've used to stamp the whole Union Jack.
Now I just have to prepare a 6 x 6 scrap page and a badge. How did I ever have time to be in paid employment?????

Two birthdays in one week

Sale-a-brate Good Times!
I was in a bit of a panic yesterday. I knew that I had to make a card for one of my merry band, Lesley, as it's her birthday today but thought I had another week to make one for my friend Anne. Suddenly realised that her birthday is this weekend, not next. Add this to the fact that she lives in Canada......oops!
I CASEd this card after having seen one made by Carole Bryson. (You can see more of Carole's work @ ) I used the same papers from Sale-a-bration but a pattern rather than the stripes Carole used. I also changed the sentiment stamp. I really liked this paper and the Fresh Vintage stamp set, such a shame it isn't in the main catalogue. I'm hoping that Anne doesn't see this card on the blog before it arrives and that she likes it, especially as it's going to arrive late!
Had an idea for Lesley's card, but you know best laid plans and all that. Wasn't at all pleased with the results ( that's nicely saying that it was a disaster). So I went back to plain and simple. The photo really doesn't do it justice.

'My Friend'
Okay, so it's crooked and not a great picture, you can't even read the greeting. You might get a better view if you tip your head slightly! Lesley tends to go for simple, clean lines so I thought this might fit the bill. The leaves ('My friend' from the Spring Mini - only 11 days left to order!) are in a soft chalk. It wasn't what I started out to do but, with midnight fast approaching and crafty chaos everywhere this is what she received. I must remind her to be eternally grateful! Did you spot a second sneak peek? It's that Bakers Twine again, this time in Lovely Luscious Limeade.

New friend and a Sneak Peek

Back in February I met up with demonstrator Sherrill Graff at her Faith crop in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sherrll has been with Stampin' Up for 20 years and is a Founder Member, recruited by Shelli, one of the co-owners. As you can imagine, Sherrill is a fount of knowledge when it comes to SU. She seems to be able to organise and run crops, classes and conventions standing on her head!
Then there's the story of the raffle and the Big Shot bag, but I won't go into that ....... It was great to meet Sherrill after all our emails. What a warm, fun and generous woman. To see more of Sherrills work go to her blog, link is:
At the crop I got to chat with a couple of scrappers who let me photograph their projects, I particularly loved the 'Cherish' page which works so well despite being busy.
'Cherish' layout
Here, held by it's designer - Robyn. Not one of my best photos but never mind!

'Cherish' box (view 1)
Two views of a lovely gift box by the ladies, using the Beau Chateau DSP.

'Cherish' box (view 2)
I liked the 'Cherish' page so much I CASE'd/scrap-lifted it and used the design (slightly altered) for the photo that was taken of my dear friend Anne, my new friend Sherrill, and myself. Quite pleased how the page came out overall though I did drop glue on the photo so that's got to be replaced. Hopefully you can't see the glue in this picture. Was glad to finally be able to use some retired DSP that I fell in love with last year, also my pennants punch. Ribbon and lettering is from my stash.
'Across the Pond' layout
You're going to have to be eagle-eyed to spot the two sneek peaks from our upcoming Summer Mini so I'll just tell you what they are. Hidden and stained with Early Espresso ink - I don't make it easy! - is Bakers Twine. So 'in vogue' at present.
I used the white and just coloured it up to suit but keep a look out for more in those lovely luscious 'In-Colours'.
Also new is the set of Framelits Dies - Label Collection which you should be able to spot on the left of the picture. I think both the twine and the labels will come in really handy on future projects.

Team Swaps

"Another post so soon", I hear you say. Well, I'll soon have caught up. I've already posted pictures of my first team swaps and I thought it'd be a good idea to show what some of the other ladies made. They're a talented bunch and I wish I had more photos to show you but here are a few of the swaps below. You might want to take a look at some more of their work so I've included links to the respective blogs where possible.

Beautiful Wedding card by Gill Moore.

Cheerful Easter card by Carolyn Exwood

The romantic heart card is by Lesley Gillett.
Unfortunately the 'cupcake lady' didn't put her details on the reverse.

The card on the left was designed by my upline Natalie O'Shea. With pearls to make it feminine, I really like this card.

Kit Samples

It was quite exciting to receive my new stash. The UPS van has been a regular caller since my first delivery. Here are some of the cards I made with the kit. I tried to make them all a little different.

Above I used the Precious Butterflies stamp set. I didn't have a pink ink pad (note to self!) so I used Real Red and stamped the flower 3 times without re-inking. This is mounted on stripe embossed Pool Party, though you can't tell that from the photo. Everything is then mounted on Night of Navy cardstock. I was quite pleased how this turned out.

The Paisley Prints stamps in bright Pumpkin Pie and Island Indigo.

The Posy Punch and Four Frames stamp sets used with the Decorative Label Punch. I can see me using these a lot. Not a great photo but you can get the idea.

Got a bit carried away with this easel card - made with Marina Mist cardstock, Paisley Petals DSP, Faith in Nature Hostess stamps set and large Woodgrain stamp - after all, why use one thing when you can use loads?
